PARTICIPATION IN MODEL UNITED NATIONS

1st Junior High School of Oraiokastro participated in the 10th Session of the United Nations of Youth – MUN that has been held in Anatolia College. Nine (09) students of C Class participated. The activity was organized by the School Principal, Mr. Georgios Arvanitidis with the help of Christodoulos Chondrogiorgis, student at the Chemical Engineer Department, of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

The TMUN is a 3-day simulation of the work of the United Nations. (Senior) High School students participate representing a country or an organization in various UN forums, like the General Assembly and its committees, the Economic and Social Council and the Security Council. It is an opportunity for students to tackle world issues that often remain uncovered by mainstream media and to better understand the workings of international diplomacy while improving their rhetorical skills. The official and working language of the conference is English.
The TMUN is organized by the Hellenic Model United Nations Organization and the day-to-day management of the conference is carried out by an Organizing Team consisting of undergraduate and graduate students with significant experience in MUN conferences.
Our school participated with ten (10) third Class students. The simulation took place in American Farm School of Thessaloniki. The activity was organized by the school principal, Mr. Georgios Arvanitidis, with the participation of Mr. Christodoulos Chondrogiorgis, student in the Chemical Engineers Department of the University of Thessaloniki and Mrs. Anna Michailidou, Computer Science teacher.
