Environmental Education Program

«The students transfer images
from Nature in the School Yard - 
Phase ΙII»

Participating teachers: 1) Georgios Arvanitidis, Agriculturist, coordinator, 2) Anna Michailidou, Computer Science.

Developed activities:

  • Discussion of the theme with the group. Seeking information on paper or electronically through Internet.
  • Acquaintance plays. Each student described his/hers hobbies and took a picture of an object belonging to a classmate. At the end, the pictures presented to the class and each student explained why he/ she picked the particular object.
  • Four groups were formed with the aim of detecting the construction stages of a garden. Four stages were found: DESIGN, IRRIGATION, PLANT CHOOSING and PLANTING
  • The students selected a Name, Color and Sign for the environmental team.

  • The participating students decided on a plan concerning the improvement of the school yard.
  • Three (3) groups were created. Each group worked on the theme of a picture concerning an environmental problem, like the ice melt or desertification. The students wrote a story related to the picture and all the stories were presented to the class.
  • The environmental team worked on the school yard with preparing the soil and planting.
  • At the end of the school year each member of the environmental team received a certification.

Cultural Program

«Acquaintance with Theater Forms

through Theatrical Play and Improvisation»

Participating teachers:  1) Evgenia Batziou, Geologist, coordinator, 2) Konstandina Vlachou, Art teacher.

Developed activities:

  • Theatrical games.
  • Basic elements concerning the art of theater.
  • The theater of the oppressed.

Under the Environmental Education Program «The students transfer images from nature in the school yard. Phase ΙII», and the Cultural Program «Acquaintance with theater forms through theatrical play and improvisation», a visit was organized to Karpenisi from 03 - 05 of April 2011.

The visit included:

  • Arrival at the city of Lamia and visit the Archeological Museum.
  • Tour to the Prousos Monastery.
  • Walking in the streets of Karpenisi.
  • Participation in an experiential program organized by the Environmental Education Center in Karpenisi. Actions like hiking and the acquaintance with plants and animals of the area took place.
