RESPECT TO ANY ATHLETIC ACHIEVEMENT

Getting information concerning different sports.

Getting information on disabled people and sports.

Meeting athletes with disabilities.

ACCEPTANCE OF INDIVIDUAL DIFFERENCES

Discussion on individual differences.

Getting information and present different views.

PARTICIPATION IN SPORTS AS A HUMAN RIGHT

People with disabilities have the right to participate in sports.

SOCIAL SUPPORT THROUGH SPORTS

Discussing the experience of failure or success.

Motivating athletes with disabilities.

«The journey of Odysseus - From Myth to History»

Participating teachers:  1)  Evangeli Vlachou, Philologist, coordinator,  2) Kontandinia Nioplia, Philologist.

Main objectives:

Cultivation of students' critical ability and creativity.

Enhancement of students' communication and collaboration.

Expression through art.

The chronicle development of the program:

 

1st MONTH

Discussion with the students. Seeking material.

Group separation.

2nd MONTH

Processing of several excerpts of Odyssey. Dramatization with the help of the students.

3rd MONTH

Looking for the characteristics of modern Odysseus.

A journey  to time and space.

4th MONTH

Gathering material. Evaluation.

Preparing a document.

5th MONTH

Presentation. Evaluation.

 

The product of the program is a document concerning the story of Odysseus and its modern aspects.

 

Cultural Program

«The Library as a place of active participation in School Reality»

Participating teachers: 1) Kontandinia Nioplia, Philologist, coordinator, 2) Maria Daikidou, Philologist.

Activities:

 

1st MONTH

Development and understanding of the theme.

Creation of groups for reading literary books.

2nd MONTH

Internet usage with the aim of gathering information relative to library organization.

3rd MONTH

Software usage for electronic management of the library. All the information concerning the BOOK or the BORROWER is stored electronically.

Information on the writer Aris Fakinos.

4th MONTH

The information for all the existing book in the library is stored electronically.

5th MONTH

Gathering information from the Third Class History book in order to use it in several literary books.

6th MONTH

Cultural Program

«Rhythms of the Earth -Sounds of Nature: Reproduction of Percussion Instruments from West Africa and Latin America»

Participating teachers: 1) Evgenia Batziou, Geologist, coordinator, 2) Christos Xanthos, Musician, 3) Konstandina Vlachou, Art teacher.

Activities:

Group formation - Making acquaintances through theatrical game.

Cultivation of a trust climate with the use of experiential exercises.

Learning about musical instruments from West Africa and Latin America.

Construction of musical instruments (Percussion Instruments).

Preparing the musical show «Mowgli - The Jungle Book», which included pictures, music, narration, songs and sounds from the nature accompanied with musical instruments made from the students.

The show presented to the Educational Festival organized by the Cultural Department of the Secondary Education in Western Thessaloniki, on April 22 2013. Additionally, the cultural team gave performances to the 2nd and 3rd Elementary School of Oreokastro on April 16 and 18 2013.

Environmental Education Program

«Electronic Recycling-ΗLΙΟS- Electronic Waste Hierarchy Economy Cooperation»

Participating teachers: 1) Christos Kozalakis, Technologist, coordinator, 2) Panagiotis Paganos, Mathematician, 3) Anna Michailidou, Computer Science, 4) Vasilios Politis, Sociologist.

Activities:

 

1st MONTH

The structure of the program.

The applications that are going to be developed.

Group formation based on the students' interests.

Allocation of responsibilities.

2nd MONTH

Detection of the points of intervention.

3rd MONTH

Basic rules concerning electronic recycling.

Propositions. Interventions in the local and the wider environment.

Recording activities.

4th MONTH

The students propose solutions.

The students define procedures concerning the rationalistic usage of the electronic waste.

Collaboration between groups.

5th MONTH

Filling a questionnaire.

Conclusions.

Promotion of the program.

Environmental Education Program

«The Contribution of Volunteering
in dealing with the Conditions of Living
that are affected by the Natural Environment-DIAS- Skills Management to Assist and Support
»

Participating teachers:  1) Anna Michailidou, Computer Science, coordinator, 2) Persefoni Liapi, Theologist, 3)  Christos Xanthos, Mucisian, 4) Argiro Toupala, German Literature.

Activities:

Group formation-Expectations from the program - All the members sign the contract.

Experiential exercises -Creation of a trust climate between the members.

Organization of a charity Christmas bazaar with the aim of gathering money for supporting the Actionaid adoptions along with the Society of Autistic Child, HOPE, located in Oreokastro.

Internet usage for locating information concerning voluntarism, politic strategies that are being followed in Greece and organizations that aid developing world (Actionaid, Unisef, etc.).

 Experiential exercise - Discussion.

Propositions on the ways that can be used for fundraising.

Discussion - Questionnaire formation - Evaluation.

Each group designs a sign for the program. The best sign is voted by all the members.

The students evaluate the current economic situation in Greece and propose actions in order to help their fellow men who are in need.

Participation in the volunteering action for gathering plastic lids in order to help the Association of Paraplegic and Physically Disabled of Prefecture of Pella. The lids are converted in wheelchairs and orthopedic items.

Visit the Society of Autistic Child, HOPE, and offer the money from the Christmas Bazaar.

Participation in the charity race on March 31 2013, for supporting the Society HOPE.

 

Under the above four programs an educational visit was organized in Trikala- Meteora, from 5 to 7 of April 2013.

The visit included:

A tour in Trikala.

A tour in Matsopoulos Mill.

A visit in Pertouli. The students participated in an environmental program titled «The Secrets of the Wood». The program lasted three hours and was organized by the Group of Special Therapy and Vocational Treatment, STEGI.

Visiting Meteora. The Monastery of Saint Stefanos.

A tour in Plastira Lake.
