On Friday, April 19, 2024, in-school athletic activities took place at the Municipal Gym, “Kontaxopoulio”. The winners and participants in volleyball games taught us fair play!
The Physical Education teacher of our school, Mr. Kostas Garantolis, was responsible for the event.
| April 14 2024 | 10th Charity Mountain Race – Elpida |
On Sunday, April 14, 2024, volunteer students and teachers of our school participated in the 10th Charity Mountain Race “Autism Elpida”. Congratulations to everyone for their contribution!
The teachers of our school, Mrs. Kornelia Ioannidou, Theologian and Mr. Vasilios Politis, Sociologist, collected the participations.

The students of both choirs of the 1st Junior High School of Oraiokastro “Pavlos Melas” and of the 3rd Junior High School of Sykies participated in the performance “IN THE CONSTELLATION …. OF MANOS HADJIDAKIS”, on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the theater “Theopisti Oslianitou”, at the Music School of Thessaloniki. Special thanks for the effort and the result to the musicians Mr. Christos Xanthos and Mrs. Anastasia Basoglou.

Within the framework of axis 3 for the assessment – Relationships between students – B Class was informed, on cyberbullying, by an officer of the Cybercrime Prosecution, at our school.
The event was organized by Mrs. Nektaria Liapaki, Philologist and Mrs. Konstantina Vlachou, Art tecaher.
| February 29 & March 5 2024 | Presentation on Addictions |
Within the framework of the Evaluation of the School Unit, a briefing was held by a member of the Drug Enforcement Unit and a psychologist of the Hellenic Police on the subject: “Drug Use and Addictions”. On Thursday, February 29, classes C1 and C2 participated and on Tuesday, March 5, classes C3 and C4. The purpose of the briefing was to provide students with valid knowledge on the issue of addictions.
The event was organized by Mrs. Aikaterini Kalli, Philologist.

On Tuesday, February 27, 2024, the students of C Class were informed by a representative of the Thessaloniki Police Directorate about violence in sports. The briefing lasted 2 teaching hours and took place at school.

On Monday, February 18, 2024, a prevention program on “School Violence and Bullying” was held at our school for C Class students. The speaker was the psychologist Mr. Sozopoulos Christos from the organization “The Child’s Smile”.
The action was organized within the framework of Axis 3 “Student Relations”, Evaluation of the Educational Work of a School Unit, by the participating teachers.

The teachers of our school attended the very interesting training seminar on “Classroom Management Techniques”, by Mrs. Elizabeth Chlapoutaki, Education Advisor of the Directorate of Secondary Education of Western Thessaloniki.
| February 12 2024 | An Activity on Fire Safety Issues |
On Monday, February 12, 2024, an echelon of the Thessaloniki Fire Brigade visited our school in order to train the school’s fire safety team in the use of fire extinguishing means.
The training included a theoretical and practical part and gave the opportunity to the teachers of the school to practice the use of dry powder and carbon dioxide fire extinguishers. The training was also attended by the students participating in the environmental program “School Firefighters”.
The action was organized by Mr. Christos Xanthos, Musician.
| February 6 & 8 2024 | An Activity on Volunteering |
Within the framework of axis 4 “Student-Teacher Relations”, an activity on volunteering was organized in collaboration with the Hellenic Red Cross on Tuesday 6 and Thursday 8 February 2024, presented by Mrs. Aikaterini Koukoutsi, social worker. The students of A and B classes of our school, were informed and participated in an experiential game aimed at raising awareness on the issue of offering to fellow human beings.
The action was organized by Mrs. Evangeli Blachou, Philologist.
| February 7 2024 | Kids Save Lives training |
On Wednesday, February 7, 2024, the participating students in the programs “School Mediation”, “3D Printing” and “School Firefighters” participated in an online briefing on the theoretical part of the First Aid Training by the organization “Κids Save Lives”. The training lasted two hours and took place within the teaching hours.
The event was organized by Mrs. Kornelia Ioannidou, Theologian.
| January 30 2024 | Anniversary of the Three Hierarchs |
The educational community of our school honored the Three Hierarchs on January 30.
The students carrying the Greek Flag, along with the C2 class attended the mass.
During the 3rd hour, the students watched a video on the life and contribution of the Three Hierarchs. During the 4th hour, students of A Class elaborated the topic “School through the Years”, of the B Class the topic “Open Book-Open Horizons” and of the C Class the topic “Education – Equal Opportunities for All”.
The action was organized by Mrs. Kornelia Ioannidou, Theologian and Evangeli Vlachou, Ioanna Lybitsouni and Athanasia Tsimenidou, Philologists.
| January 24 & 25 2024 | Practical First Aid Training |
On Wednesday 24 and Thursday 25 January 2024, the specialized practical training of the BLS/AED First Aid of the Hellenic Red Cross of Thessaloniki took place, with a total duration of 5 hours, in a classroom of our school. The trainer was the Head of the Nursing Service of the H.R.C.S., Mrs. Eugenia Triandafyllidou.
The action was organized by Mrs. Ioanna Lybitsouni, within the framework of Axis 8, concerning teacher training.

On Thursday, December 21, 2023, 3X3 and 5X5 Basketball and Football Interschool Games 2023-2024, were held for Junior High School students at the indoor basketball court and courts of Kontaxopoulio Sports Center in Oraiokastro. The students of our school participated enthusiastically in sports under the guidance of the physical education teacher Mr. Garantolis.

Our choir with Christmas songs and carols visited the Autistic Unit “Elpida” in Oraiokastro.
The students of our school’s Mediation Program, together with the responsible teachers, Mrs. Kornelia Ioannidou, Mr. Vasilios Politis and Mrs. Ioanna Lybitsouni, collected goods for our fellow human beings and offered them to the Holy Church of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary in Oraiokastro.

Celebration for the Polytechnic! November 17, 2023. Excellent organization by Mrs. Kalli and Mrs. Liapaki. Mr. Dakos and our former student Mr. Kyriazis helped with the presentation and the sound. Always inspirer in pedagogical and musical activities is our musician Mr. Christos Xanthos. Mrs. Konstantina Vlachou surprised us once again with her artistic creations. Our colleague, Mr. Votsis, sang with the school chorus.

The students of A Class watched with great interest Mr. Lazaros Grigoriadis, Lieutenant B’ of the Sub-directorate for the Protection of Minors of the Security Directorate of Thessaloniki. The action that took place in our school had as central theme the violence and delinquency among young people.

On Friday, October 27, 2023, our school honored the anniversary of October 28, 1940 by organizing a celebration at the amphitheater of OAED of Oraiokastro. The celebration was organized by Mrs. Maria Skaramanga and Mr. Vasilis Politis. The music direction was by Mr. Christos Xanthos while the artistic direction was by Mrs. Vlachou Konstantina.
