Our school participated in the 16th Student Conference on Computer Science, on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at NOESIS, with the project “Students learn 3d drawing and printing and create a board chess!”. Katerina Petsoglou, Apostolos Patsidis, Raphael Tataridis and Dimitris Nikoloudis presented at the conference part and Fotini Koukara with Karam Naasan Aga at the exhibition. All participants were excellent!

On Wednesday, April 26, 2023, the 1stJunior High School of Oraiokastro with representatives the students of the A’ Class, Aikaterina Aspragathou, Apostolos Patsidis and Raphael Tataridis, participated in the 15th Student Conference of Informatics of Central Macedonia organized at the NOESIS Science Center, for students of Primary, Middle and High Schools. The students of our school under the guidance of the teachers Anna Michaelidou, Computer Science, Georgios Arvanitidis, Agriculturist and Christos Xanthos, Musician and Physicist presented the project entitled, “Children create a website guide for Natural Disasters”.

On Saturday, December 10, our school participated in the Exhibition Part of the 8th MRF with the students of the B Class Aliki Papaioannou and Filipos Asteriou, who presented the three-dimensional printed model of the school created by the architectural plan of the ground and first floor, with Braille markings, to facilitate the accessibility of visually impaired people. The title of the project was “Design – 3D Printing of the floor plan of the school for the accessibility of visually impaired people.”
Responsible for the action were Mr. Georgios Arvanitidis, Director of the school and Mrs. Anna Michailidou, Informatics.

| «14th Student ΙΤ Conference – April 12-15 2022» |
On Tuesday, April 12, 2022, the 1st Junior High School of Oreokastro with representatives the students of the 3rd Class, Dalaboura Artemis, Moustakas Marios and Bischinioti Maria Dafni participated in the 14th Hybrid Student Conference of Informatics of Central Macedonia that was organized at the Noesis Science Dissemination Center, for elementary, middle and high school students. The students of our school under the guidance of the teachers Anna Michaelidou, Informatics, Georgios Arvanitidis, Agriculturist and Alexandra Nikolaidou, Physicist presented the paper titled, “Design – Construction of 3D plan of the school building for the accessibility of people with visual impairments”.
The purpose of the project was to design the ground and the first floor of the school with the TinkerCAD three-dimensional drawing program and its printing on a 3D printer. The design included the characterization of each area of the school (classrooms, workshops, offices, common areas) in Braille writing, in order to make it easier to reach people with visual impairments.

On Thursday, April 22, 2021, the 1st High School of Oraiokastro with representatives three students of the 3rd Class, Spanoudakis Georgios, Tsakidis Emmanuel and Maria Toufectsi participated in the 13th Student Conference of Informatics of Central Macedonia organized at the NOESIS Science Dissemination Center, for students of Primary, High Schools and Lyceums. The students of our school with the guidance of the teachers Anna Michailidou, Konstantinos Muratidis Informatics and Georgios Arvanitidis, Agriculturist presented the paper entitled, “The use of New Technologies in the period of pandemic. Case study in the daily lives of students of the 1st High School of Oraiokastro.”.
The purpose of the paper was to investigate the impact of the use of new technologies during the pandemic period on the daily lives of the students of the 1st High School of Oraiokastro and their families, to record the results and draw useful conclusions. A questionnaire created with Google forms was used and completed online. Statistical analysis of results and charts was done with Microsoft Excel. The conference was held online due to the special health conditions that prevailed during the 2020-2021 school year.

On Tuesday the 12th of May 2020, 1st Junior High School of Oreokastro participated in the 12th Student IT Conference with four students of the C Class, Antonios Goundis, Aikaterini Goundi, Athanasios Pantazopoulos and Marios Michalopoulos. The conference was addressed to Elementary, Junior and High School students. Our school’s students under the guidance of Mrs Anna Michailidou, Computer Science teacher and Mr Georgios Arvanididis, Technology teacher, presented a project titled, “Checking the quality of water in a toxic environment”. The project describes a hypothetical scenario of calculating PH, a toxic characteristic of water, with the usage of PH-metric paper.. A robot is being used for the PH measurement, since the environment is too dangerous for man. A package of Lego Mindstorms has been used and the programming was done with EV3.
The conference was held via Internet due to the specific hygienic conditions during the current school year 2019-2020. Press here to see the video of the project.

On Thuesday the 16th of April, 1st Junior High School of Oreokastro participated in the 11th Student IT Conference with three students of the B Class, Antonios Dimitrios Kyriazis, Aleksandros Asteriou and Marios Michalopoulos. The conference was addressed to Elementary, Junior and High School students. Our school’s students under the guidance of Anna Michailidou, Computer Science teacher and Georgios Arvanididis, Technology teacher, presented a project titled, “Safe Usage of Internet. Case Study in Junior High School Students.”. The students used a questionnaire from the bibliography, studied the results and used tables and graphics for the outcomes. The presentation took place in EPosterShow were the students presented their idea to the public.

On Sunday the 17th of March 2019, the students of C Class Spanoudakis Stavros and Spanakis Minas and from B Class Gountis Antonios, participated in the Finals of the National Contest of Educational Robotics WROHellas 2019 and achieved the 3rd place. The contest took place in Athens and the challenge that our team confronted was “Proteas”.

On Sunday the 10th of February 2019, the students of C Class Spanoudakis Stavros and Spanakis Minas and from B Class Gountis Antonios, participated in the Peripheral Games for the National Contest of Educational Robotics WROHellas and particularly in the category “Proteas”. They succeeded the demanded score and are being promoted to the Finals in Athens the 16th and the 17th of March, 2019.

On Wednesday the 18th of April, 1st Junior High School of Oreokastro participated in the 10th Student IT Conference with two students of the C Class, Dionisis Papaioannou and Michalis Vousvoukis. The conference was addressed to Elementary, Junior and High School students. Our school’s students under the guidance of Anna Michailidou, Computer Science teacher and Georgios Arvanididis, Technology teacher, presented a project titled, “Management of Infectious and Toxic Disposals”, in witch they studied a way of managing toxic Hospital wastes. Our proposal supports the use of a robotic arm that is able to separate two different types of toxic wastes stored in yellow and red disposal cans with the aim of destroying them. The presentation took place both in RoboLand and in EPosterShow were the students presented their idea to the public.

On Saturday the 18th of March, 1st Junior High School of Oreokastro participated in the final contest of the 2nd National Contest of Educational Robotics WRO Hellas for High School Students with the challenge “The march of Alexander the Great”, with the students: Dionisis Papaioannou, Michalis Vousvoukis and Nikolaos Arvanitidis.

The first team gained an award and second team gained a praise.

Our school participated in the 3rd Student Robotics Festival and specifically in the Competition Section, that took place in NOESIS, on Saturday December the 10th 2016. The following students participated: Dionisis Papaioannou, B Class and Nikos Arvanitidis, A Class, who wan a special award.
SCHOOL YEAR ΕΤΟΣ 2015 – 2016
1st Junior High School of Orepkastro participated in the Robotics Educational Contest, WRO Hellas, for Junior High School students, that was held on Athens on the 2nd of April 2016. The robotics team that participated in the contest consists of three (03) A Class students, Dionisis Papaioannou, Marios Granis and Michalis Vousvoukis. Mrs Anna Michailidou, Computer Science, was the team’s couch and the school principal Mr. Georgios Arvanitidis, helped on several issues during the preparation.
The robotics team achieved the 4th position among approximately 85 teams from all over Greece.
