INNOVATIVE ACTIONS PROGRAMS 2023-24

Cultural ProgramThe art of 3D Printing!
I get inspired, design and create!

Participating teachers: 1) Anna Michailidou, Computer Science, coordinator and 2) Christos Xanthos, Musician.
Students learn the basic principles of three-dimensional design and printing. They get inspired, design with Tinkercad and use the school’s three-dimensional printer to implement their projects.

Activities

The students participating in the program represented our school at the 16th Student Conference on Computer Science, on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at NOESIS, with the project “Students learn 3d drawing and printing and create a board chess!”. Katerina Petsoglou, Apostolos Patsidis, Raphael Tataridis and Dimitris Nikoloudis presented at the conference part and Fotini Koukara with Karam Naasan Aga at the exhibition. All participants were excellent!

The students of the 3D Printing program continue to be inspired and creative! Our Easter candles with decorative elements printed on our school’s 3D printer are ready!

The students of the program also became small entrepreneurs! They designed hearts with embossed and engraved designs and initials, which after being printed with our 3D printer, were made available to the students and teachers of the school for Valentine’s Day and after ordering!

Our….. production will continue with other types of breloques, as well as one for our school!

On Monday, January 22, 2024, the scientific director of STEM Education in Thessaloniki, Mr. Michalis Bakaloglou, revealed to us some of the secrets of three-dimensional design and printing.

Cultural ProgramTraditional Greek cuisine travels!

Participating teachers: 1) Charikleia Tzatzou, English Literature, coordinator, 2) Georgios Arvanitidis, Agriculturist and 3) Panagiotis Paganos, Mathematician.
Students learn the rules of hygiene in the kitchen, create and taste Greek flavors and publish their own recipe book with authentic Greek traditional recipes.

Activities

On Wednesday, February 28, 2024, the cooking club experimented with Italian cuisine adding flavors of Greece!

Heart-shaped traditional egg slices with sugar because of the day…….

Traditional potato salad flavors with the recipe of Mr. Paganos, sweet crepes with bananas and merenta and delicious burgers on the grill under the guidance of Mrs. Tzatzou. Everything was prepared with the equipment of our sponsor, Atamian Boutique Electric!

Environmental ProgramWhen taking care of our
schoolyard becomes art.

Participating teachers: 1) Georgios Arvanitidis, Agriculturist, coordinator, 2) Charikleia Tzatzou, English Literature and 3) Magda Tilkeridou, German Literature.
For the third consecutive year, students take care of and beautify the schoolyard and at the same time make useful objects from recyclable materials.

Activities

Working in the schoolyard

On Wednesday, March 20, 2024, the participating students in the programs “Traditional Greek cuisine travels” and “When taking care of our schoolyard becomes art”, visited the “Ice Cream Factory”, of the KRI KRI Industry in Serres, a unique and modern Thematic Park of educational character! A specially designed space of 2,000 sq.m., part of a purely modern industrial space, welcomed the students who got to know Ice Cream and its History through a unique and delicious way, with an incredible tour experience!

Environmental ProgramSCHOOL FIREFIGHTERS II: I learn to live in nature without fear.

Participating teachers: 1) Christos Xanthos, Musician, coordinator, 2) Vasilios Politis, Sociologist and 3) Magdalini Kampantaidou, Biologist.
Pupils learn to protect, prepare and deal with natural disasters (earthquakes, fires, floods). They map high-risk areas in the school and urban environment and develop methods to identify and record them.

On Friday, March 1, 2024, students of class A1 and the environmental program “School Firefighters” visited Nouvelle where they attended the educational program “Natural disasters (prevention and instructions) & environmental protection”. In this program, they were informed about the types of natural disasters and protection measures, watched relevant videos and practiced first aid. In addition, they took part in an earthquake simulation activity and practiced the correct reactions.
The educational visit was organized by Mrs. Anna Bourliva, Geologist and Mr. Christos Xanthos, Musician.

On Thursday 14-12-2023, a team of the Thessaloniki Fire Brigade headed by Mr. D. Lykos informed the students of the program about urban fire prevention and response issues. The briefing focused on the causes of fires, their extinguishing techniques, the use of extinguishing equipment and our suggested responses during a fire.

Health Care ProgramSchool Mediation

Participating teachers: 1) Kornelia Ioannidou, Theologian, coordinator, 2) Ioanna Lybitsouni, Philologist and 3) Vasilios Politis, Sociologist.
Students are trained experientially on the role of mediator. School mediation is a practice of peaceful resolution concerning conflicts and disputes and a method of preventing school violence.

The team of our school’s Mediation Program, with a lot of love and care, collected goods for our fellow human beings, which were offered by the students and teachers. The goods were packed and transported to the Church of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary in Oraiokastro.

The innovative actions programs “Traditional Greek cuisine travels” and “When taking care of our schoolyard becomes art”, organized an educational visit to Kastoria and Nymfaio, Florina, from 29 – 31 March 2024.
