e-Twinning

School Year 2021-2022

Our school, during the School Year 2021-2022 implemented three eTwinning projects.

1- Title: “Meeting new friends”.

– Collaboration with ICS “Olga Rovere” di Rignano Flaminio in Italy.
– The program concerned the exchange of information about students themselves, their interests, their city and the customs and traditions of their country. The students exchanged messages, created videos, handmade and digital cards and calendars. The language of communication was English.
Participating students (41 of A Class and 22 of B Class).
Coordinating Person: Harikleia Tzatzou, English Philology.

2- Title: «Combining History with Technology».
Collaboration with the Secondary School «IES El Prat» which is located in Torreblanca, Valenthia, Spain.
– The project was about the exchange of information concerning the History of the two countries, the cities and the schools.
– The participating students were 9 of A1 Class and 12 of A2.
Coordinating Person: Anna Michailidou, Computer Science.

On Monday May 09 2022, the participants from A1 and A2 classes, in the above eTwinning project, visited the “Dinosaur Environmental Park” in Oraiokastro.
The purpose of the visit was to collect information and then disseminate it through the eTwinning platform about the nature of an environmental visit to another European country.

The final products of the project include the creation of a video with English subtitles, with the subject of the History of the Flags of the Greek Revolution, where the students participated.

3- Title: “Having fun with physics experiments”
– Collaboration with Anatolia College in Thessaloniki and Özel Gökçeada Rum Lisesi, in Imvros. In this program, through the collaborative process, students performed physics experiments using simple everyday materials in authentic learning environments and utilizing the capabilities of modern mobile phones. They predicted, evaluated measurements and came to conclusions through original experiential actions. They also used the modern philosophy of the STEM interdisciplinary approach for teaching physical education.
Participating students (14 of B and 6 of C Class).
Coordinating person: Alexandra Nikolaidou, Physicist.

The participating students attended:

1.- On 14 of April and 15 of May 2022, at the CERN research centre, two seminars, one in Greek and the other in English, dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the discovery of the Higgs particle. The presentation was made by the Professor of Physics at the University of Birmingham and researcher at CERN Mr. Konstantinos Nikolopoulos.

2.- On Friday, May 20, 2022, an Astrophysics webinar on “Space physics: the heliosphere and the Cassini and Voyager missions”.
Dr. Konstantinos Dialynas, researcher at the Office of Space Research and Technology of the Academy of Athens and member of the Scientific Team Cassini / MIMI, analyzed with the students issues of modern physics concerning the heliosphere, the planets of our solar system and their satellites, as well as the distant space missions Cassini and Voyager and the conclusions that scientists have drawn from them.

School Year 2020-2021

1st Junior High School of Oraiokastro became a member of the European eTwinning community. Through a secure platform, participants communicated, collaborated, developed projects and shared ideas on specific actions using ICT (Information and Communication Technologies).

National eTwinning Project entitled “We Do Care as Europeans (WdCasEs)” was designed and implemented during the second quarter of the 2020-2021 school year. The action took place in collaboration with IES MIGUEL DE MOLINOS, a secondary school in Zaragossa, Northern Spain, and aimed to raise students’ awareness of cultural and environmental issues. Through the study of various monuments of the Ancient and Medieval Byzantine periods of the two cities, students compared the respective historical periods and exchanged good educational practices related to activities that focus on the sustainability, preservation and promotion of these monuments.

The coordinating teacher is Mrs. Harikleia Tzatzou, English Literature.

The program involved 38 students from A Class and 21 from B Class.
